The 12th season of IPL was watched and followed by crores of people. This season saw a total of 27 million tweets. This means that there were 5,29,411 tweets in a single season this season, which is the highest in the history of IPL. This year 44 percent more than last year's IPL tweet.

Mumbai Indians became champions for the fourth time by defeating Chennai by one run in the final match of 12th IPL. The trophy may be in Mumbai's name but in one case Chennai Super Kings overtook it. Chennai was such a team which was discussed a lot. Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the highest tweeter followed by Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh and Andre Russell.

The most special of these tweets was Hardik Pandya's tweet. This all-rounder from the winning team Mumbai Indians had a sentimental tweet about Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Pandya had described Dhoni as his inspiration, friend, brother and legend in this tweet. Hardik's tweet was called the Golden Tweet. So far, 16,000 people have retweeted this tweet while 40 thousand people liked it.

Mumbai Indians were also the most discussed on Twitter during this IPS season. But that was when the team defeated Chennai Super Satta King and became champions. During this time, 67 percent of Mumbai Indians were talked about, the rest 37 percent were on Chennai.
